BackflowStudio was created by Dr. Rodney Dyer, a professor, researcher, and curriculum designer who wanted a clearer, more elegant way to connect learning outcomes, objectives, and assessments.
This application elevates instructors from document producers to curriculum architects. It’s not yet another editor—It’s a semantic layer above your raw teaching materials — where pedagogy, outcomes, and assessment logic live.
As a STEM professor, I was taught to do get grants, do research, train researchers, and publish but had to learn how to craft effective instruction. I designed this tool to help me implement instruction with solid foundations in backwards design and learning-objective based pedagogy.
I believe that understanding instructional connectivity is key for effective development of learning modules, course content, program cohesion, and ultimately student success.

Grounded in Backward Design, learning-objective based instruction, and modular pedagogy, BackflowStudio visualizes how learning flows through a course or program.
